Experience the Art of Cooking when the Baur au Lac & Rive Gauche opens its Kitchen for this annual cooking spectacle, offering the opportunity to watch Michelin Star Chefs and their teams create the most amazing dishes right in front of your eyes. It was a dream come true - to taste and watch how these creations, that I usually just know from the white plate, are created - it felt like being backstage at a magic show and seeing all the magic happen right in front of my eyes.
I loved to watch the direct exchange between the guests and the Chefs - the possibility to ask questions, to give feedbacks, to watch a dish being prepared and tasting it just seconds later. I tried to soak up all the inspirations, impressions and tastes to enrich my own knowledge of food combinations and cooking techniques. Most of all I was impressed by the efficiency and the precision with which the teams work together - and the shared passion for food amongst all participants.
I couldnt resist the temptation to try everything, from the hot dishes to the cheese & dessert buffet - I completely dived in to the experience of eating, tasting and discovering food. A huge part of my cooking and eating philosophy is knowing what I am eating. Being conscious of the ingredients and preparation is why I believe so strongly in the importance of home cooking. Eating ready-made food diffuses our relationship and awareness for it - we largely do not know what we are eating, the single ingredients are no longer visible let alone their origin and quality. This event created exactly that bridge - giving the opportunity and plattform to watch and experience the process of how high class cuisine is created.
I am still left completely fascinated & already exited for the next round.
